Kagay-anon singer and songwriter, David Mercado, finally gets to release his first EP album dubbed “Secrets Revealed” on August 20, 2021.
David hails from Cagayan de Oro, the City of Golden Friendship, but has been Manila-based since 2015. He started his career as a host of Mindanao Pop Idol in 2006 and from there, he went on to host various events, including weddings.
But singing has always been his first love, so it's no wonder that his journey to success started onstage, as he sang songs that could easily melt anyone's heart.
Before his EP reveals his secrets, let's get to know David more.
1. He started his singing career here in CDO.
David's journey started when he was still in college, singing in different events and programs at school. He also joined singing competitions, and among the awards he received were Nursing Idol 2005 1st Placer, Nursing Star 2006 Grand Champion, and Valentine Duets 2007 Grand Champion.
He is a member of Dreamboard Artists, a non-profit organization of talented singers, performers, and artists in Cagayan de Oro.
Even if he is now based in Manila, David continues to be one of the in-demand performers here in our city.
2. He is a World Championships of Performing Arts multimedalist.
Last 2019, David was selected as an official delegate for the 23rd Annual World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) held in Long Beach, California. Performers from more than 70 countries attended the Olympics-like competition.
David had the distinction of being a Triple Overall Division and Multi-Gold Medalist. He took home 3 division champion plaques, 4 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and 2 bronze medals. Amazing!
Because of his success in the World Championships of Performing Arts, he has been sent to host and perform in tourism events abroad.
3. His original composition Kahit Kunwari Man Lang was interpreted by Moira dela Torre and Agsunta in Himig Handog 2020.
It was in the year 2020 when two of his original songs were shortlisted in the Himig Handog contest – the largest songwriting competition in our country. His song, "Kahit Kunwari Man Lang," made it to the finals of the competition. It was interpreted by Moira dela Torre and Agsunta. The song gained over 12 Million streams, which helped David win the “Most Streamed Song Award” in the competition. Kahit Kunwari Man Lang was also recognized as the most commercially successful song in the contest.
4. Secrets Revealed is the title of his first EP.
After his success in Himig Handog 2020, David is set to drop his 1st EP album “Secrets Revealed.” The EP is released independently and consists of 3 songs and 1 acoustic bonus track. All of these songs are original compositions of David. It is produced by Swedish producer Omkast.
The first track, Sweet Lips, will be released on August 20, 2021.
